In a surprising move that caught the attention of motorcycle enthusiasts, Royal Enfield has revealed its latest creation, the Shotgun Twin 650, at the Motoverse event in Goa,India. This innovative motorcycle, previously showcased as the SG 650 concept at EICMA 2021, marks Royal Enfield's commitment to the rich heritage of customization. Siddhartha Lal, the Managing Director of Eicher Motors Ltd.,in India described the Shotgun 650 as a "modular, shape-shifting machine" and a tribute to the vibrant world of custom bikes.

Design and Features

The Shotgun 650 has embraced the stylish elements introduced in the SG 650 concept, featuring a contemporary bobber design. The iconic Royal Enfield elements such as the round headlamp, circular turn indicators, teardrop-shaped fuel tank, and minimal side panels have been retained. The motorcycle's modular design allows it to transform from a classic single-seater to a dual-seater, offering versatility to riders.

Visual highlights include a gloss black engine cover, twin peashooter exhaust mufflers, spoked alloy wheels, shortened front and rear fenders, and a wide, flat handlebar. Unlike the Super Meteor 650, the Shotgun offers a more upright riding posture with mid-set footpegs and a low-set handlebar. The customizable nature of the Shotgun 650 is evident with the presence of bar end mirrors, likely to be offered as accessories at the time of launch.

In terms of features, the Shotgun shares similarities with the Super Meteor 650, including a semi-digital instrument console, Tripper Navigation with Bluetooth connectivity, all-LED illumination, and a USB charging port. Royal Enfield is set to provide ample customization options through its MIY (Make It Yours) program, allowing riders to tailor their Shotgun 650 to suit their preferences.

Specifications

Powering the Shotgun 650 is a 649cc, air/oil-cooled, parallel-twin cylinder engine mated to a 6-speed gearbox with a slip and assist clutch. While specific power figures are undisclosed, expectations point towards a performance similar to the 47 bhp and 52.3 Nm of peak torque seen in other 650 models.

The hardware features upside-down front forks with an integrated aluminum top yoke and dual springs at the rear. Braking duties are handled by disc brakes at both ends, supported by dual-channel ABS for enhanced safety.

Motoverse Edition

While the official launch date and pricing details are yet to be disclosed, Royal Enfield has created a buzz by offering a Motoverse Edition of the Shotgun 650. Priced at INR 4.25 lakh (ex-showroom), this limited edition model sports a dual-tone blue and white paint scheme with youthful body graphics, providing lucky Motoverse attendees with an exclusive opportunity to own a distinctive version of the Shotgun 650.

The Royal Enfield Shotgun Twin 650 has emerged as a fascinating addition to the 650 lineup, showcasing the brand's dedication to blending tradition with modern design. With its modular features, customizable options, and a nod to the custom culture, the Shotgun 650 is poised to capture the hearts of riders seeking a unique and adaptable riding experience. As anticipation builds, enthusiasts eagerly await the official launch to get their hands on this shape-shifting marvel from Royal Enfield. Hope this new offering from Royal Enfield also gets launched in Nepal soon. As, there is a huge potential for this motorcycle to make an impression in the Nepali market as well.
