Aprilia SR 160 Review

After being in the Nepalese automotive market with a legacy of  8  years and winning more than  54 world titles you can safely say that Aprilia automotive has made quite an impression to say the least. And it keeps impressing with it’s all new Aprilia SR 160 scooter which is a much needed upgrade from its older generation. It was about time that Aprilia updated its scooter lineup and changed it up a notch with a much needed facelift and features update. 

Let’s delve into what’s new with the new Aprilia SR 160:

Aprilia SR 160 Design:

Let’s start of the review by talking about the eye catchingly sporty design of the all new Aprilia SR 160. The front apron of the SR 160 gets the most visible changes with the new stickers and sharp cuts and lines making the scooter even more sportier. The all new LED headlight cluster with integrated LED DRL lights which seamlessly blends with the apron. It also has handle mounted turn indicators. The scooter also gets a very spacious and long single seat which is made to look as if its a split seat with a pretty decent seat cover texture. The scooter also comes with a larger and angular grabrails which makes the scooter look more sportier and muscular. Pair that with 14 inch wheels and you get an aesthetically pleasing scooter nonetheless. 

Other visual updates to the Aprilia SR 160 include a modern X-shaped LED tail-light with bulb turn indicators.

Aprilia SR 160 Features:

Talking about the features of the Aprilia SR 160  has full 210 sq. cm. LCD console which shows a tannai data like battery voltage, average speed, fuel consumption, engine temperature gauge, time, odometer, digital speedometer and digital tachometer. However the bluetooth connectivity model isn’t available here in Nepal.

The scooter comes with a under seat storage of 11 liters which falls under slightly smaller side. It also gets a boot light and a USB charger. Aprilia SR 160 Engine & Performance:

On the highway, it can maintain a comfortable cruising speed of around 90 kmph without straining the engine too much.

Aprilia SR 160 Ride & Impressions:

Digging deep into the riding experience of the all new Aprilia SR 160 is just remarkable as the handling of this scooter is quite close to a motorcycle and that’s mainly because of its rigid chassis and a pair of large 14 inch tyres. The SR 160 is very light to maneuver while riding on the city streets. It really impressed us with its agility while riding through the city streets and alleyways where it was zooming past effortlessly. 

Not only was the experience of riding the scooter amazing its braking capabilities are also something else. The brakes of the SR 160 turned out to be very proficient for the job.  The scooter comes fitted with ByBres calipers 220mm front disc and 140 mm rear drum brakes with single channel ABS which is a most welcomed update to this scooter. The SR 160 also has a very impressive 169 mm of ground clearance and a kerb weight of 122 kg. 

The SR faced criticism for its stiff ride quality in its BS4 version, which Aprilia attempted to address with some improvements for the BS6 transition, making it slightly smoother. However, despite these efforts, it remains uncomfortable on bumpy road surfaces. While the suspension setup, including telescopic front suspension and rear monoshock, offers some relief, sharp bumps, rumblers, or deep potholes still transmit significant shock to the rider's back.

Nevertheless, the Aprilia SR 160 remains an enticing and distinctive choice. Its potent engine, precise handling, and exceptional brakes were already highlights, and the recent updates have only heightened its appeal. The Aprilia SR 160 meant for those riders whose requirements and intentions are pretty clear that they want to buy and ride an outright sports scooter.

All and all the Aprilia SR 160 is a fun and exciting scooter which is very aggressively priced at Rs. 3,95,900 and is available at your nearest Aprilia showrooms. The scooter is a breeze to ride on and with the new upgrades it seems to have outdone itself and raised its standard much higher than its previous version.
