2024 KTM 790 Duke Is Back

On October 10, 2023, KTM made an official announcement regarding the return of the 790 Duke for the 2024 model year. The core features of the original 790 Duke, often referred to as "the original scalpel" by the team at Mattighofen, remain largely unchanged. However, there are updates in the form of new graphics and the introduction of two fresh color options for the upcoming year. Now, let's delve into the anticipated specifications for the 2024 model.

Engine

The 2024 KTM 790 Duke retains its liquid-cooled, eight-valve, 799cc dual overhead cam parallel-twin engine, delivering a claimed 103 horsepower and 87 newton-meters (approximately 64 pound-feet) of torque at 8,000 rpm. The engine's bore and stroke measurements are 88mm by 65.7mm. It continues to be paired with a six-speed gearbox featuring a PASC antihopping slipper clutch.

Suspension and Brakes

The suspension system comprises a WP Apex 43 open-cartridge upside-down fork with progressive springs at the front and a recognizable open lattice swingarm at the rear, complemented by a WP Apex rear shock with progressive spring and preload adjustability. Braking is handled by a set of radially mounted four-piston fixed calipers at the front, gripping 300mm brake discs. Additionally, a single-piston floating caliper is employed at the rear, clamping onto a 240mm disc.

Electronics

The 2024 KTM 790 Duke offers four distinct ride modes: Sport, Street, Rain, and Track. It comes equipped with switchable traction control and motor slip regulation as standard features. Riders can conveniently access and modify these settings via the user-friendly TFT display located on the dashboard, which adjusts its illumination based on ambient light levels.

Other Features

KTM's distinctive Duke styling, characterized by its bold and aggressive appearance, remains consistent with the 2024 model. The only alterations for the new year involve changes to available colors and graphics.

The seat height is set at 825mm (approximately 32.4 inches), covered in a grippy material to maintain rider positioning unless they decide to adjust their posture while riding. For shorter riders, KTM offers an optional low seat, which reduces the seat height to 805mm (about 31.7 inches).

Colors, Pricing, and Availability

For the 2024 model year, the KTM 790 Duke is offered in a choice of KTM orange or gray color schemes. Pricing and availability details may vary by region, and as of now, KTM has not yet disclosed the pricing for the 2024 790 Duke. Prices tend to increase annually.
