TVS X Electric Scooter is Officially Launched!

TVS Motor Company recently unveiled its latest premium scooter to the general public at an event held in Dubai. The event itself was very grand, and TVS made no shortage of arrangements for it to be a grand event. The scooter is simply referred to as the X, and the manufacturers are calling it a “premium electric crossover” making it the flagship electric scooter in the lineup. TVS Motor Company has revealed its premium electric crossover two-wheeler TVS X, targeting the millennial and Gen Z populations in India and abroad.

After months and months of teasing, TVS has finally launched the X at an introductory price of  INR. 2.50 lakh in India with a portable 950W charger at INR 16,275 (including GST), and a 3kW Smart X Home rapid charger is also available as an option. This makes X the most expensive electric scooter on sale in India currently. This is also the first electric maxi-scooter in the Indian market and comes equipped with all-new tech and features.

TVS X is based on the Creon concept, which was showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo. After viewing the images of the TVS X, we can definitely say that the Hosur-based manufacturer has retained quite a few elements from the pre-production concept. Saying that, here are a few things to know about the TVS X.

TVS X Design:

The TVS X has a very distinct design from the iQube, as the iQube has a very simple and conventional design with clean aesthetics, while the X is much more radical to the core and exhibits a dynamic appearance. TVS X embraces the essence of a typical maxi-style scooter with an aggressive front end, a faired body, and sharp visuals, or what TVS calls a “sculpted” body form.

The scooter uses a combination of red, black, and blue elements very efficiently to give you that dynamic, premium, and futuristic feel while looking at it. The scooter has been designed in such a way for the global citizens, who are trendsetters and visionaries with a passion for technology. The main highlight of its design is the vertically mounted headlight housed within the front apron of the scooter. Blending the maxi scooter styling into its design is a large side panel that lends a rugged appeal to the scooter. Other highlights include split seats, a rear tyre hugger and 12-inch Blacked-out alloy with wheels.

TVS X Features:

TVS has left no stone unturned regarding the features of the X electric scooter. The new offering from the TVS comes with a tilt-adjustable 10.25-inch horizontal touchscreen instrument cluster on which the rider can set wallpapers, themes, and profiles as well. Another interesting feature that the TVS X comes with is the ability to offer a navigation system with EV routing, a full map view, weather, and the ability for riders to share their ride status. Another exciting feature of this electric scooter is the integration of Alexa and safety features such as anti-theft, fall alert, auto lock, SOS, and Bluetooth connectivity. Apart from this, the rider can play games and watch videos as well.

The X also comes with hill hold control, regen selection, three riding modes, cruise control, reverse assistant, single-channel ABS, and keyless ride. This scooter is based on a high-tensile aluminum chassis called the XLETON platform, which sits on telescopic front forks and a slightly offset rear mono-shock. Talking about the brakes for the X, it has disc brakes at both ends. It also comes equipped with ABS on the front wheels.

It can be expected that some of these features will be carried over to the new affordable electric scooters that TVS launches in the future.

TVS X Battery And Range:

TVS X has a battery capacity of 4.44 kWh, out of which 3.8 kWh is usable. The TVS X claims a range of 140 km on a full charge. The portable 950 W charger can juice up the X from 0 to 80 percent in 3 hours and 40 minutes, whereas the rapid charger can recharge from 0-50 percent in 50 minutes. The TVS X is capable of clocking a top speed of 105 kmph, while 0-40 kmph can be done in 2.6 seconds.

TVS X Performance:

While discussing the performance of the TVS X, it uses a PMSM(Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor) electric motor. It displays a peak power output of 11 kW and a rated power output of 7 kW. The torque output stands at 40 Nm. The top speed of the TVS X is 105 kmph, and the scooter can accelerate from 0-40 mph in 2.6 seconds.

After thoroughly examining the features, performance, and design of the TVS X, it’s safe to assume that it will be the first electric scooter of its kind to enter the market in 2023. Though it's packed with an array of exciting features, the cost tilts towards being a bit expensive. And it's yet to be decided what the price will be when it's released here in Nepal. Apart from the cost factor, the scooter looks very fresh and futuristic, and with features that give it an innovative aura, it is sure to turn heads while zooming across the city streets.
